Definition of Marine Surveyor (Wikipedia)
A Marine surveyor (including “Yacht & Small Craft Surveyor”, “Hull & Machinery Surveyor” and/or “Cargo Surveyor”) is a person who conducts inspections, surveys or examinations of marine vessels to assess, monitor and report on their condition and the products on them, as well as inspects damage caused to both vessels and cargo. Marine surveyors also inspect equipment intended for new or existing vessels to ensure compliance with various standards or specifications. Marine surveys typically include the structure, machinery and equipment (navigational, safety, radio, etc.) and general condition of a vessel and/or cargo. It also includes judging materials on board and their condition.

Draft Survey
The Draft Survey is the way to calculate the weight of cargo loaded or unloaded to or from a ship from measurements of changes in its displacement. The technique is based on Archimedes’ principle. The procedure is standardized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for the measurement of coal cargoes.

Bunker Survey
The survey is carried out to measure and ascertain the quantity of Bunker onboard at the specific time. The Bunker itself commonly consists of Fuel Oil and Diesel Oil.

On / Off Hire Condition Survey
This inspection is conduct to the vessel at the beginning and/or end of the chartering and aims at checking the overall condition of the vessel, as well as their official certificates and the exact amount of combustible on board at the time of delivery of the vessel by the ship’s owner to the charterer in the case of chartering (On Hire) or upon redelivery the vessel for the owner, in the case of end of the chartering (Off Hire) when is issued where the “Delivery or redelivery Certificate “.

On / Off Hire Bunker Survey
This inspection aims to verify the exact amount of combustible on board at the time the chartering (On Hire) or in the redelivery of the vessel (Off Hire) where it is issued the “Bunkers Delivery or redelivery Certificate “.

Hold Cleanliness or Tank Cleanliness Survey
Visual inspection of the cleanliness of the cargo holds/tanks of the vessel in order to minimize at the maximum, any contamination possible of the cargo, thus avoiding future problems in transportation.

Pre-shipment inspection
Pre-shipment inspection or PSI, is a part of supply chain management and an important quality control method for checking the quality of goods clients buy from suppliers. This is a physical inspection of goods is carried out pre-shipping, in the country of export, establishing the exact nature of the goods.

Load and Discharge Supervision
The objective of loading and discharging supervision is to verify during loading and unloading operations that the correct material or product is properly handled and secured on the means of transport. It will protect the quality and safety of products throughout the process of loading and discharging of commodities.
Tally Survey
Tally Survey is counting the cargo to ensure that the number or quantity of goods to be shipped or received is that described in shipping documents.

Lashing Survey
The purpose of Lashing Survey is to ensure that the package stowed and secured properly on vessel, container or other vehicles to prevent cargo movement and damage during the trip.

Hatch Cover Ultrasonic Test
Testing the weathertight integrity of hatch covers, weathertight doors, and ventilators on board of ships using Ultrasonic device.
